Jacob MacDonald is the fourth child in a family with eight children. Homeschooled for all 12 grades, he grew up in the country in Georgefield, Nova Scotia. He enjoys playing music with his family and in the services of Heritage Baptist Church. He also loves outdoor activities like canoeing and hockey. Jacob began playing piano at three years old, and began studying the violin and cello a few years later. He continued lessons in all three instruments throughout his primary schooling, and currently has completed his first year in the Bachelor of music program at Dalhousie University. He has participated in several community orchestras and festivals with cello and violin, and also won the gold medal for Grade 9 RCM in piano. He performed as a soloist for the first time in February 2017 with the Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra, playing Mozart’s 20th piano concerto. His main goal as a musician is to use his musical abilities for the glory of God.
Jacob will perform Dvorak’s From the Bohemian Forest, “Silent Woods” Op.68 with the Chebucto Symphony Orchestra on November 24th, 2017.
